Living God's Word (James 1:19-27)

In our previous lesson  we covered the beginning of James 1.

As we stated before, James has a major theme of seeking to be spiritually mature. So far we’ve talked about trials and how Christians are to view and react during trials. We should expect trials and remain true to our love for God even in the midst of trials.

Near the end of our last section, James mentions that by God’s own will “he brought us forth by the word of truth”. (v.18a) The rest of James 1 continues in that thought as we discuss the necessity of God’s word in the life of a Christian. He’s going to talk about how we need to receive God’s word and act on it. We also need to truly apply it to our lives.
