Becoming More Like Jesus (Part Two)

The Temptations Matt. 4:1-11

• Followed His baptism. Matt. 3:13-15
• Grace does not allow carelessness.
• Sin and righteousness result from choices we make. 
• We can choose the way of escape. 1 Cor. 10:13
• Fight! Eph. 6:10-18
   

Know and Rely on God’s Word

• Matt. 4:4, 8, 12
• Study all of Scripture. 2 Tim. 3:16-17
• He saw it as authoritative and knew how to make application.
• Let’s be like Jesus in bringing our lives into conformity to Scripture and not try to make Scripture accomodate to our lives.
   

Pray Often

• Luke 3:21-22; 5:16; 6:12; 9:16, 18; 11:1; 22:39-46
• Get to know the Father better.
• May need to go into the wilderness. (Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16)

Conclusion

• Is Jesus the pattern for our lives?
• Striving to resist temptation? Growing in our knowledge and ability to apply God’s word? Spending time in prayer?
• Let’s walk as He walked. 1 John 2:6
• We can become like Him in many ways, yet He is the only Savior. Heb. 5:8-9; Mark 16:16
