Compassionate
- Matt. 9:35-36; 14:13-14; 15:32; 20:29-34
- He was moved by a widow’s plight. Luke 7:11-15
- The word signified to feel or be moved inwardly.
- Do not become hardened by life.
- Love your neighbor with genuine compassion.
Concerned for Sinners
- Came to seek and save the lost. Luke 19:10; Matt. 1:20-21
- Often misunderstood. Luke 5:30; 15:1-2
- We will be more effective if we seek the lost as friends concerned for their souls.
Couldn’t Make Everyone Happy
- Luke 7:31-34
- What others think matters. 1 Cor. 9:19-23; 2 Cor. 8:20-21
- Yet, we cannot please everyone.
- Do the right things and do them with love for God and others, but know that some will still not be happy with you.
Conclusion
- Be compassionate and seek the salvation of others.
- Accept the reality that not everyone will be pleased with you.
- It’s not always easy to follow Jesus, but see where it leads.
- Jesus came to save sinners—has He saved you?
